Week 21 - Eric Carle

At Popular Bookstore, I chance upon this author, or rather a picture writer - Eric Carle - and fell in love with his books! His books are very appropriate for young children yet appealing to individualistic or graphic designers like me. His executions - very creative! Kayden will have some of the titles real soon!

Eric Carle is a children's book author and illustrator who is most famous for his book The Very Hungry Caterpillar, which has been translated into over 47 languages. Since The Very Hungry Caterpillar was published in 1969, Eric Carle has illustrated more than seventy books, many best sellers, most of which he also wrote, and more than 88 million copies of his books have sold around the world.

The Very Hungry Caterpillar

“This early work by a premier author marked an exciting breakthrough in the traditional children’s book format. Carle uses clever cutout pages to depict a caterpillar eating his way through the calendar week. Caterpillar also brilliantly displays Carle’s ability to integrate a concept (days of the week), scientific information (the life cycle of a caterpillar), and an appealing story. (Ages 3-6)” - by Judith Rovenger, Sesame Street Parents, July/August 1994
